4 Reasons Why You Should Have Private Swimming Lessons

Are you caught in a dilemma between choosing to enrol in group swimming classes or engaging a personal coach for private swimming lessons? Here are 4 reasons why having Private Swimming Lessons are the better option!

Undivided attention

Unlike group classes, the coach has only one focus - YOU!

Your strokes and movements will be carefully observed and corrected throughout the entire duration of the lesson. On the other hand, group class settings make it inadvertent that the coach would miss out on things that should be corrected due to the presence of many students. With 5-6 students in a pool, the coach's attention has to be split up and diverted from one student to another every few seconds.

You would be able to swim, however, the execution of your strokes and movements may not be optimal.

Every Lesson is Personalised

Everyone has different skill levels and more importantly, goals. Some might simply want to keep fit and use swimming as a non-competitive workout, while others might have performance goals such as increasing their lap timings or improving on endurance.

By having a dedicated coach to each person in a personal training arrangement, each class and overall long-term programme would be structured according to what the you want to achieve. This helps make the lesson (and your money!) more efficient for your goal instead of focusing on things that might not be personally significant for you. For example, the group class might be focused on doing endurance drills, which could differ from your desire to work on short distance sprints.

With a bespoke programme, you'll be likely to reach your goal quicker than someone in a group class setting.

Efficiency

As mentioned above, efficiency involves having a programme that is personally significant to your goals.

Efficiency also involves the reduction of distraction in class and disruptions caused by other students. For example, in a group class for kids, the flow of the programme may be disrupted by a crying kid halfway into the class. Kids might also be distracted by other kids in the same pool and start playing or chatting, having a harder time to focus on swimming. On the other hand, group classes do help to foster teamwork and socialisation skills, which is why some parents enrol their kids in both personal training sessions and occasional group classes.

Convenience and Comfort

Private swimming lessons win hands down in terms of convenience and comfort. You will not have to travel out of your house because your coach will come straight to you! This saves tons of time (and time is money) from travelling back and forth from your home to a public pool. It also enables you to have more time to rest if you have a hectic work schedule or time to prep your kids for swimming classes in the comfort of your own home.

To wrap things up, group classes serve as a one-size fits all approach that is definitely more affordable as such classes can start as low as $25. However in the long-run, you may realise that you take longer to master a certain stroke or stagnate in your progress. Therefore, it might be worth it to invest in yourself or your child with private swimming lessons to experience in the quality that a private coach can bring! By having someone know you on a personal level and genuinely care about your needs and goals, it will bring your swimming experience to greater heights.
